How does a website like PensionsGuru come about? Good question - and if we had a good answer we’d give it to you. But the fact is we don’t. It just sort of happened and that’s as much as we can remember about it.
Of course all the words are written and the pages uploaded to the web and stuff and all with nice looking layouts and things like that, much in the way other websites are; but PensionsGuru is a bit weird in that its content is put together in part by real people, but also by people who are either partially or completely fictitious (it helps with the salary overhead).
Who are these people? Well, read on and find out why don’t you?
The alter-ego of Steve Bee, former Head of Pensions at Prudential and pension strategist at the Royal London Group. In real life a multi award winning blogger and commentator on pensions and the only person ever to have submitted evidence to a Commons Select Committee in cartoon-strip format.
When it comes to building a website like PensionsGuru from scratch, maintaining and running it as well as developing it, Ms Bruun has basically been there, done that and has even got the T-shirt. Also has a day-job running a pensions business, but as they say if you want something done give it to someone who’s busy...
Our in-house pensions boffin (reads Hansard every day before breakfast). Runs the ever-popular Pensions A-Z part of PensionsGuru single-handedly. Nice bloke, but is convinced that pensions is a really interesting subject.
Nothing escapes Emma’s powers of searching the web for all things interesting on the pensions front. A one-woman powerhouse responsible for keeping Pensionsguru up to date on all things pensions.
Knows absolutely nothing about pensions and is happy to keep things that way. Has, however, an uncanny ability to spot pensions jargon a mile off and is therefore crucial to helping us maintain PensionsGuru as a jargon-free zone.
The creative genius behind the PensionsGuru and J&rgonFreeBenefits websites. Is able to read PensionsGuru’s mind and thus needs little briefing on the detail of what the sites should do or look like. (Can be found in real life here)
The other half of the Links Design team and the person responsible for getting us noticed on the WWW. Also our top man (™) for talking the powers that be into granting us the all-important trade mark for J&rgonFree.
Why we need Jargon-Free Pensions...
